[Custom Build]
Turning Your Dreams into Horsepower!
Here at Reid’s Speed Shop, if what you’re looking for is a completely one-off custom engine build, you’re in the right place.
Whether you already have a specific combination in mind or simply have a performance goal you’d like to achieve, I can help turn that vision into reality. By working closely together, we can create a build tailored specifically to your vehicle, budget, and intended use.
From the initial planning stages to final assembly, I handle the entire process personally. This includes parts research and sourcing, creating a detailed build breakdown sheet for your review and approval, engine teardown, coordinating with the machine shop, engine preparation, painting, precision reassembly, and break-in on my run stand when applicable.
My goal is to provide a clear and transparent process so you know exactly what goes into your engine before a single bolt is turned.
Quality & Reliability Standards
To ensure long-term reliability and consistent performance, all custom builds utilize quality, reputable performance components that have proven themselves in real-world applications.
Additionally, Reid’s Speed Shop exclusively builds engines using hydraulic roller camshaft and lifter combinations. This standard helps ensure durability, reduces the risk of premature valvetrain wear, and provides a more reliable foundation for a modern street performance engine.
If you’re ready to bring your idea to life, head over to the Contact Page and describe your goals for the build. From there we can begin putting together a plan to turn that daydream into horsepower.

Typical Investment
Because every custom build is unique, final costs can vary depending on the parts selected, the condition of the engine, and the overall goals for the build.
That said, most custom small block builds typically fall within a range similar to—or slightly above—our staged packages once quality components, machine work, and labor are factored in.
As a general guideline, most custom builds will typically fall somewhere in the $5,000–$8,000+ range depending on the combination and the level of performance desired.
Once we discuss your goals and inspect the engine, I will provide a detailed build sheet outlining the parts, machine work, and estimated costs before moving forward so there are no surprises.
